A burglary suspect is in jail this morning after two alert citizens called 9-1-1 about someone trying to break into a local pawn shop.

Just before 2:30 AM on Friday, Feb. 21, deputies responded to a prowler call at Fieldstone Pawn located at 2315 Iris Drive in Conyers. Two different 9-1-1 callers told dispatchers that they could see someone inside the fence surrounding the pawn shop.

When deputies arrived and began surrounding the property, the suspect attempted to run from deputies. The suspect was able to get outside the fence, but was quickly apprehended by deputies waiting on the other side.

Sheriff Eric Levett said, "The two alert callers are to be praised for their quick calls to 9-1-1 to get the RCSO on the way. This is another great example of law-abiding citizens and the RCSO working together to catch criminals and to make our county safe."

The suspect that has been arrested is Ahren Marquise Jones, 18, of Conyers. Jones is in jail facings charges of Criminal Attempt to Commit Burglary, Possession of Tools for Commission of a Crime, False Statements/Writings, and Loitering and Prowling. He is being held in the Rockdale County Jail without bond.
