The Upper Ocmulgee River Resource Conservation and Development Council (RC&D) is looking for a Rockdale County resident to serve as its newest member.

RC&D is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a mission to improve communities by balancing environmental quality with economic and cultural development.

Specifically, council members volunteer their time and talents to make an impactful difference in communities by helping to improve the quality of life of the region. The RC&D - made up of Gwinnett, Rockdale, Henry, Newton and Jasper counties- works with local governments, conservation districts, regional development centers, and volunteers to develop an area plan that identifies and creates solutions for environmental conditions.

The Council also provides agriculture workshops, workshops for property owners, farmers' market programs, and funding through grants for projects, including conservation and watershed projects.

Currently, the Council is working to fill a vacancy and is seeking a Rockdale resident who can provide recommendations of different grants or has experience seeking funding through grants, but everyone is encouraged to apply.

For more information about becoming a member of RC&D, contact Jennifer Rutledge at 770-278-7009 or jennifer.rutledge@rockdalecounty.org.
