Transportation plan update to move onto BOC

The Rockdale County Comprehensive Transport Plan's public meeting was held this past Thursday, Nov. 19, covering subjects like draft recommendations, assessment of needs, and project prioritization. The board focused on existing transport projects and infrastructure as well as funding availability. The public expressed concerns in biking routes, complete streets, and other projects.
A variety of projects were evaluated by the board, like widening projects, intersection projects, bridge projects, operational improvements, bike trails and facilities, as well as multi-use trails. Transportation improvements are looked through a lens of a "benefit to cost ratio."

A total of $537 million has been allocated in RTP/TIP and SPLOST projects for Rockdale county and adjacent counties. This funding pool could be used for projects that are classified under DeKalb County, but would cross and be built into Rockdale County.

Information on the plan will be posted on the Rockdale County Web site, www.rockdalecounty.org.
