Marvel superheroes Iron Man and Thor will appear on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 12 pm at the Mall at Stonecrest. Fans of TheAvengers are invited to meet Iron Man and Thor up close and personal during this exclusive Atlanta appearance.  In recognition of National Bullying Prevention Month, parents and children are invited to “dress up” like their favorite superhero for this special event.     

Iron Man is an American superhero who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee, developed by scripter Larry Lieber, and designed by artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby. He made his first appearance in Tales of Suspense #39 in March 1963.  

Throughout most of the character's publication history, Iron Man has been a member of the superhero team the Avengers and has been featured in several incarnations of his own various comic book series. Iron Man has been adapted for several animated TV shows and films. The character is portrayed by Robert Downey, Jr. in the live action film Iron Man (2008), which was a critical and box office success. Downey, who received much acclaim for his performance, reprised the role in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films, including two Iron Man sequels and The Avengers (2012).  

Thor is a hammer-wielding superhero and comic book character published by Marvel Comics.  The film Thor  (2011) was the fourth film released as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film was directed by Kenneth Branagh, and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Sir Anthony Hopkins.  The film tells the story of Thor, the crown prince of Asgard, who is exiled from his homeland to Earth. While there, he forms a relationship with Jane Foster, a scientist.

Thor was released on May 6, 2011, in the United States. The film was a financial success and received positive reviews from film critics. The sequel, Thor: The Dark World is set for release November 8, 2013.
