Suspected meth dealers lead car chase

Two people suspected of selling drugs were arrested last week after leading authorities on a high speed chase through the Honey Creek area.

Deputies received a tip that a male located at a residence next to the Outpost bar on Ga, Highway 20 South around 3:25am on Oct. 5 was in possession of a large quantity of methamphetamine and stolen items.

While surveilling the home, officers saw a male and a female exit the home and drive away toward Honey Creek Road. After noticing a broken taillight deputies attempted to pull the car over and the driver slowed as if he was going to stop before accelerating, leading deputing on a chase at speeds reaching 70 mph for over four miles.

The driver then turned down Underwood Road, where the passenger threw a large black plastic bag out of the window near Salem High School, and turned onto Old Salem before the chase ended on E. Chester Circle.

Deputies were able to block the driver's side door of the car and arrested were Sidney Jason Plunkett, 29, address unknown, without incident. The passenger, Kristy Gale Walls, 29, of Covington, was arrested after she attempted to run but was also blocked by a patrol car. According to the incident report, Plunkett was mumbling and lethargic.

When searching of the vehicle officers found nine cell phones, two cameras, a laptop and an iPod located in several different bags inside the vehicle. Also found was $1,497 in different denominations in Plunkett's wallet.

The large black plastic bag that was thrown from the vehicle was recovered and officers found a large amount of methamphetamine and loratab pills inside.

Plunkett was charged with tail light lens requirement, fleeing and attempting to elude, failure to maintain lane, failure to stop at a stop sign, DUI drugs, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule II substance with intent to distribute, and theft by receiving stolen property.

Walls was charged with theft by receiving stolen property for an iPhone allegedly found in her possession, tampering with evidence, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of a schedule II substance with intent to distribute.
