Rockdale students joined kids throughout American in celebrating the Read Across America event on March 2, Dr. Seuss's birthday.

Schools throughout the county celebrated by reading and engaging in other activities to bring books to life. Peeks Chapel Elementary held a book parade where students could dress up as their favorite book character. The CJ Hicks Elementary school kindergarten's theme was "Cuddle Up With A Good Book/Pajama Day." The students came to school dressed in their jammies and rotated from classroom to classroom enjoying all the Dr. Seuss Reading Activities the teachers planned.

Students got a chance to eat real green eggs and ham In another classroom they heard and read along the Dr. Seuss book "The Lorax" and made rhyming word pairs on leaves.
