Expect more scattered thunderstorms to roam about metro Atlanta today, but the greatest risk of severe storms in Rockdale County will occur on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
There's a 30 percent chance of a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. today, with some severe storms possible. There's a 50 percent chance of strong to severe storms after 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, but a 70 percent chance of severe weather Thursday night in Newton County, according to meteorologists.
The Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the weather service says to expect widespread thunderstorm development in north and central Georgia on Wednesday and early Thursday.
Storms will be triggered by daytime heating interacting with a moist, unstable air mass across the state.
The stormy weather should give way to sun and a high of 75 on Thursday and of 79 for Friday.
