Snapping Shoals EMC recently donated $5,000 to the Honor Flight Conyers program, which provides free day trips for World War II veterans to see monuments in Washington D.C.

On January 16, members of the Snapping Shoals EMC Trust Board presented $5,000 from Operation Round Up funds to Honor Flight Conyers president Dave Smith.

Operation Round Up is a voluntary program for Snapping Shoals EMC members in which they allow their monthly power bills to be rounded up to the next dollar. The funds are used to help qualifying charitable/community organizations with specific needs that they have or to directly help people in need of assistance with household or living expenses; home repairs or equipment; and medical or health needs.

Honor Flight Conyers is one of 117 Honor Flight "hubs" throughout the country and services veterans throughout the state of Georgia. The Conyers hub was formed in 2011 and has so far transported 100 veterans free of charge to Washington, D.C.

If you know of a WWII veteran who is interested in participating in this program, contact Honor Flight Conyers at 770-483-4049,  HonorFlightConyers@comcast.net, or go to www.HonorFlightConyers.com .
