The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office is set to open the doors to its new Southside Precinct and will hold an open house for the public next week.

The Rockdale County Sheriff's Office new Southside Precinct, which is located at 3552 Highway 20 SE, will be open for use beginning on Monday, April 22.

The precinct will be permanently staffed with deputies, investigators, and office clerks. The Southside Precinct's normal hours of operation will be Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Members of the public will be able to make reports, meet with investigators about ongoing cases, and obtain copies of accident and incident reports.

"I am excited about the opening of the new Southside Precinct to the citizens of Rockdale County," said Sheriff Eric Levett. "The added convenience of having another location for the community to make reports and pick up copies of reports should prove invaluable."

An open house will be held on Monday, April 22 starting at 3 p.m. and the public is invited to attend. Those attending will be able to tour the facility to view the office area and the public meeting room, which will be available for groups to reserve.

The SPLOST Oversight Committee will hold the first public meeting in the precinct, which is scheduled to start at 6:15 p.m. on April 22, after the open house.

Residents interested in reserving the meeting room in the future can contact Lt. Jason Miller at 770-278-8038.
