Second-half surge leads HHS to win

The Patriots didn't play like a No. 2 seed in the first half against Riverwood. Heritage was down 24-15 at halftime, but was a completely different team in the second half and ran off to a 53-48 victory over Riverwood.

Heritage was down by as much as 10 points in the third quarter against Riverwood, but the Patriots went on a run to show the home crowd why they were the higher seed.

Byron Abrams hit Andre Harris with an over-the-shoulder pass as Harris connected on the layup and got the foul. After Harris hit the free throw to pull the game within five points, Jordan Thomas came down and buried a three to make it 34-32, Riverwood.

Two Jalen Peters free throws later and Heritage had tied the game at 34. That score was the same headed into the fourth.

In the fourth, the Patriots just attacked the basket at will and got to the foul line. Heritage made just two shots in the period, but converted nine points off free throws.

The Patriots rode their defense to victory and will play on Saturday. Isaiah Banks led Heritage with 11 points.
