Work has begun on the Salem Road/Spring Road intersection improvement project funded through stimulus funding, or the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

The $820,000 project has is slated to be complete by December 31, 2010.

The contractor, Pittman Construction, will widen State Route 162/Salem Road and relocate County Road 33/Spring Road to provide turn lanes. In addition, a traffic signal will be installed at this intersection.

Drivers are advised to slow down and use extra caution in this and all work zones.

Nationwide, some $48 billion in stimulus funding is going to transportation infrastructure. Georgia DOT has created a Web page (www.dot.ga.gov/gastimulus) devoted to stimulus activities.
