Even though the Region playoffs don't start until Tuesday, Apalachee made it so at least one Rockdale County team will make the state playoffs this season.

Thanks to Apalachee's 5-2 win over Winder-Barrow on Thursday, Winder-Barrow was knocked out of the top six in Region 8-AAAA.

Taking that sixth spot was Salem.

Salem will play Tuesday at the third-seeded team, the Heritage Patriots. The best-of-three series will start with a double-header on Tuesday and go to Wednesday, again at Heritage, if needed.

Heritage finished behind Madison County and top-ranked Loganville in Region 8-AAAA.

The state tournament begins Oct. 12.
