Runners take your mark and get ready to be painted. The Color Me Rad 5K comes to the Georgia International Horse Park on Saturday, July 13, with almost 4,000 registered runners raising money for Rockdale Emergency Relief.
RER Interim Executive Director John Alread said Ashley Roesler, RER's past executive director who accepted a position with the March of Dimes, had heard about the race and started working with organizers more than a year ago. The Color Me Rad organization arranges paint bombing 5K races across they country and fundraises for local charities.
While online registration is closed, race day registration opens 7 a.m. at GIHP and is $50 per runner.
The first wave of runners will start on the 5K trail course at 8 a.m. and each successive wave will depart every 10 minutes until all the runners have gone.
The paint is washable and water soluble, but wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting paint on.
RER, which operates a food pantry and programs such as rent and utility relief, is the main beneficiary but part of the proceeds will also go to Phoenix Pass transitional housing program for homeless women and children.
