IN BRIEF: Rockdale Democratic Party named attorney Cayce Dix as its appointment on the elections board to replace member Garvin Haynes, who was dismissed by Judge Sidney Nation last Friday along with Republican member Lynn Brown for failing to come to an agreement on the third member.

Dix previously ran for the Post II Commission in 2010 and lost in the democratic primary against candidate Courtney Dillard, who lost in the general election against incumbent Post II Commissioner JaNice Van Ness.

Rockdale Democratic Party Chairman Tisa Washington said in a written statement, "I believe her experience as an attorney, as well as her desire to serve the people in Rockdale, will be an asset to the Board of Elections."

On Monday, the Rockdale Republican Party named Jonny Brown, husband of Lynn Brown, as its appointment to the elections board.

In Nation's ruling on Friday, both Lynn Brown and Garvin Haynes were banned from being appointed again to the election board for one term.
