Athletes of all stripes and ages turned out Saturday, March 15, to the Rock On Rockdale 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run, departing from Beasley Drug Company. All of Rockdale’s Special Olympics athletes received participation awards. In the 5K race, young phenom Jackson Krueger, 8, was the first overall finisher and Kara Ollick was the first female through the shoot. “We are so blessed to live in such a great community that supports us,” RSO’s Erika Sellers said. “If you spend a minute with one of these athletes, they have your heart.” The Special Olympics’ credo is universal — “If I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
