Ride for the troops
Operation-Sandbox-39-Biker
Ready to rumble. Bikers line up for the ride in last year's Operation Sandbox.

The Operation Sandbox Ride for the Troops and Classic Car Show will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Stone Mountain Harley Davidson in Conyers off of 900 Dogwood Drive SE. Registration begins at 8 a.m. It is $20 per bike or car and $10 per passenger.

Operation Sandbox sends care packages to troops serving overseas and has reached over 80,000 servicemen and servicewomen. The day's events will raise funds to allow Operation Sandbox to buy and send materials for the care packages.

"With our troops going to Afghanistan, we are sending not only snacks and hygiene items, we're also sending small refrigerators, coffeepots, heaters, basically anything they need to give them a little touch of home," said Director Virginia Pearson.

The action-packed day includes a motorcycle ride that will be videotaped and sent with the care packages to the troops. The event is family friendly with a live band, food, vendors, and great raffle prizes. Come out to honor our fallen heroes, active military and veterans. Show support for the troops and have a guaranteed good time.
