The new Veterans Information and Referral Office will be open every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post 77. Directed by Service Officer Muriel Whaley, the office will provide a local gateway for veterans seeking information and assistance with disabilities, education, finances, medical resources and other needs.

There are usually several members at the Post on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. and from noon until 9 p.m. on Saturdays who can provide additional information or assistance.

Offers advocacy for veterans from Rockdale, Walton and Newton Counties - provides free representation and advice for beneficiaries regarding all state and federal benefits including law, healthcare, education and job resources. Veterans Services coordinator is Janice Mohr.
Walk of Heroes Veterans' Memorial

The Walk of Heroes – Veterans War Memorial is developed around a ‘visual and interactive’ concept to cultivate a public understanding of the sacrifices made by veterans on the battlefields during and since the 20th century and by their families whose sacrifices helped to protect and maintain the freedom enjoyed by Americans today.

Honor Flight of Conyers is a local chapter or "Hub" of the national Honor Flight Network, a non profit program created solely to honor America’s World War II veterans for all their sacrifices by flying these American heroes to Washington, DC for free for a day trip to visit and reflect at their memorials. Free filing for military discharge papers
Location: The Clerk of Courts Office, Rockdale County Courthouse, 922 Court St., Conyers. 770-278-7860.
Veterans are welcome are to file their DD214 form at the Rockdale Clerk of Courts Office free of charge. The DD214, or the military discharge papers, form represents the complete, verified record of a service member's time in the military, awards and medals, and other pertinent service information, such as promotions, combat service or overseas service. Veterans can bring in the original copy, and it will be stamped and assigned to a book with a page number. By doing so, there will always be a copy on file in case something happens to the original. This is a voluntary service free of charge.
