Where could "Willie Nelson," Santa Claus and many Rockdale County physicians and movers and shakers be found Friday afternoon? At Rockdale Medical Center's annual "Red Hot and Healthy" Luncheon and Fashion Show, naturally. The annual event not only showcases splendid spring fashions, courtesy of Belk, and provides a midday repast served by school board members, business leaders and the like, but its goal is to increase heart disease awareness and prevention efforts. Heart disease is the number one killer of women, more than all cancers combined.
David Cooper, a.k.a. Willie Nelson; local Santa and County Commission candidate Tom Harrison and Margie Ensley warmed the crowd up with their "pickins" while RMC's Ben Mance, security chief and resident embodied Charlie Daniels. On the catwalk, among those sashaying this year were RMC and Mercy Heart's Dr. Lisa Gillespie, Longleaf Hospice's Kristi.
