Rockdale Career Academy student Sojourner Butler was elected Vice President of Finance for Georgia DECA at the 2013 State Career Development Conference in Atlanta on March 2. Butler, a junior at Rockdale Career Academy, will serve on DECA’s State Action Team for the 2013-2014 school year. Conference planning and management responsibilities are one of the primary roles of a state officer. Butler will assist with the operation of the Georgia DECA Fall Rally in October 2013, Fall Leadership Development Conference in October 2013, the Regional Career Development Conference in January 2014, and the Georgia DECA State Career Development Conference held March 2014. Butler is the daughter of Donovan and Dawn Butler. In addition to DECA, she is involved in Junior Achievement, chorus and sports management for the teams at Heritage High School.
