Post 77 keeps rolling in win

Rockdale's American Legion baseball team continued to put up runs in dominant wins as it routed visiting Alpharetta 12-1 Sunday.

Newton County players had key roles in the win, including Tripp Loftin on the mound. Cole Hamilton started for Post 77, going four innings striking out two, before Tripp Loftin pitched the next three scoreless frames, also picking up two strikeouts.

Jake Wright and Keith Buckhault had two hits and two RBI each in Rockdale's second win in as many games. Musashi Briem also drove in two runs as Post 77 has scored 24 runs in its first two games.

Post 77 will travel to the POW/MIA Tournament in Douglasville this weekend, opening up against Peachtree City at 2 p.m. Thursday. Rockdale will then play Sportstech at 4:30 p.m., Friday and Douglasville at 8 p.m., Saturday.

Following the POW/MIA Tournament, Post 77 travels to Canton June 19 and the AFLAC Classic at Dayton College in Albany June 21-23. Post 77 returns home to face Tuscaloosa in a doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m., June 26, before going on the road for three more games, and finishing the 2013 regular season with six home games in its final seven.
