The Pilot Club of Conyers presents its 14th annual Conyers Christmas Tour of Homes on Sunday, Dec. 6, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Visitors will have a chance to enjoy an afternoon of holiday touring among Olde Town's finest and learn the history behind each home. This year the tour will feature five private homes in the historic district of Olde Town Conyers, three on College Avenue, one on North Main Street, and one located on Peek Street.

The first house, located on 931 College Avenue, has been home to Brad and Cyndi Johnson since 1991 and was originally a three-room cottage. It has been renovated since to add two new bedrooms.

The second home is on tour in memory of Reba Costley. The current house rests on the foundation of the garden of Leland and Ethel camp, grandparents of current resident, Joan Brown, and the original foundation of the home of Earl and Reba Costley, Joan's parents.

The home of Gerald and Pam Hinesley is the third home on the tour, located on 962 College Avenue. Built over 110 years ago, it was the site of the first radio transmission in Rockdale County.

The fourth home at 993 North Main Street, belonging to Dennis and Lynn Maddox Holmes, was originally built as a shotgun house, with the front door and the back door at either end of the center hallway. When it was first built Main Street was a dirt road and there was a pecan grove in the back yard.

The last home on the tour belongs to Rosa Sims and was previously a manse for pastors of the Conyers Presbyterian Church.

The tour is the largest annual fundraiser for the Pilot Club, which is a service organization focusing on brain-related disorders. For information or tickets to the tour, contact Beverly Beale at 770-483-7145.
