The Conyers Rotary Club and Rockdale Rotary Club bid adieu to the outgoing presidents and officer boards of 2012-2013 and installed the new presidents for 2013-2014 in ceremonies Thursday afternoon and evening.

Rotary Club of Rockdale County

Rockdale Rotary Club President Ashley Roesler passed the gavel to incoming President Elly Dalton at a banquet at Cherokee Run on Thursday. The coming year will see the theme of "Engage Rotary, Change Lives," with a focus on Rotary International and international service, said Dalton, 

Dalton was also named the Pat Atkins Service Above Self Award winner, named after the late Pat Atkins, who founded National EMS. His son Benny, National EMS COO, and wife Mary Ellen were on hand to present the award.

Eulalie Young was named the Rocktarian Rookie of the Year Award winner.

Charlie Ensley, husband of Public Relations Committee Chair and past president Margie Ensley, was named Rotarian at Heart, which is given to a long-supporting spouse of a Rotary member.

Checks of support were given to Rockdale Emergency Relief, Phoenix Pass, and the Honor Flight Conyers program, a day-trip program for World War II veterans.

Paul Harris Fellows, or those who contribute more than $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation, recognized included: Chris Jueschke, Joanne Caldwell, Gayla Dillard, and Osei Adoma. Those who have been Paul Harris Fellows for multiple years included Cheryl Cooper and David Cooper. Ashley Roesler was recognized for becoming a Paul Harris Bequest fellow. Altogether, the club donated more than $10,000 to the foundation, which funds aid projects to developing countries around the world.

Two members with 18 years of perfect attendance were former Judge Rudy Horne and Flynn Nance. 

Rotary Club of Conyers

Neal Stanford was inducted as the 2013-2014 Rotary Club of Conyers president following a successful year under the leadership of Albert Myers III during a ceremony held Thursday. 

Under Myer's leadership, The Rotary Club of Conyers' service projects over the past year included the Lighthouse Village Children’s Garden, Empty Stocking Fund, Hands Across Rockdale, Read Across America and others. 

Funds raised this year through the Rotary Foundation and the club's annual golf tournament were donated to the Council for the Arts, the Rockdale Houses for Men and Women, the Conyers-Rockdale Library, Meals on Wheels, Barksdale Boys and Girls Club, 4-H summer camp scholarships, Rockdale Emergency Relief, Family Promise and other worthy causes.

Mike Lassiter was named Rotary Club of Conyers Rotarian of the Year and 24 club members received the Paul Harris Fellow award in the last year.
