Last week, the Rockdale Sheriff's Department, under the direction of Sheriff Eric Levett, opened a new precinct in the southside of the county.

The new office is located on Ga. Highway 20 near Honey Creek Road. This renovation has been long overdue and we commend the sheriff's office and county leaders for doing it.

The office will be fully staffed.

This project was conceived and started under the leadership of former Sheriff Jeff Wigington; we were pleased to see that current Sheriff Levitt gave Wigington full credit for his efforts.

As far as we are concerned, Levett's praise of Wigington was a first class move.

Wigington deserves credit for many innovations in the sheriff's office; we are more than pleased that his accomplishments were recognized.
