The local delegation of our legislators was responsible for putting $50,000 back into the state budget for Rockdale Cares, which provides services and programs for the mentally and developmentally disabled.

The local nonprofit was facing a large of a cut In funding out of what was originally given to them from state for the next year.

The local legislators – Sen. Rick Jeffares, Sen. Ronald Ramsey, Rep. Pam Dickerson – were awarded with the Jarnett Wigington Award which is named after the late Jarnett Wigington who was a driving force in community volunteerism and stalwart supporter of Rockdale Cares.
