Our Thoughts: Chamber awards

There is no question that the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce has one of the finest run chambers in the state.
We have had the opportunity to serve on many chamber boards across the country as a director and chairman.

The leadership and staff of our chamber is just first rate in every category.

This past week the changing of the leadership took place. Bill Daniels, of United Community Bank, led the chamber with determination and grace in 2010 and passed on the gavel to Mo Talley, of Talley,

At its annual meeting, it honored some fine folks.

Snapping Shoals EMC was presented the very first Education Partner of the Year award for its grants and contributions throughout the year. Snapping Shoals uses its access funds wisely in supporting local projects.

The Anne Waldrop Community Appearance award went to Corner Market, a showcase of the power of landscaping and design.

The Community Spirit award went to Jim N’ Nicks. This is a company that knows how to give back to its community and has done so since it first opened.

The James P Culpepper Volunteer of the Year award went to Joe Rhodes, a truly can-do guy with a big heart to boot.
The A.R. Barksdale Lifetime Achievement award went to Ed Conway. What can you say about Ed except that he is everywhere helping others and giving of himself.

Dr. Samuel King, the leader of one of the best school districts in the state, was presented the first United Way Stepping Up to the Plate award, as he surely has in many ways.

We salute all of the Chamber winners. Each of you has done our community proud.
