One Source Foods: From the farm to the tables of families in need

Conyers-based One Source Foods has made it their mission to bring affordable, quality meats and vegetables from local and national farms to service groups in the community, such as non-profits, schools, food pantries, shelters, transitional housing groups and families in need.

"It's pretty exciting. It's an easy way for nonprofits to source food into the community and use the revenue to grow the community," said Director of One Source Foods Kimberley Morris. "

"During the fall of 2011, the growing food needs of our community were brought to our attention," according to the company's history on its website. "It was at that time we began to research and strategically design a team within the food industry and locally to bring affordable frozen foods to our area."

The company launched in June 2012 as a division of the Master Marketing Corporation, which started in 1974. The pre-sold boxes of frozen meats and vegetables are also available for sale to individual customers and for-profit businesses.

"Our business model is unique," said Morris. The for-profit company looks like a buy-in community subscription service or co-op, but there is no membership fee. The company also does fundraisers for community groups.

"Every month we create a monthly menu and customers go onto our website and order online," explained Morris. They currently distribute in Olde Town Conyers and will begin a new distribution point at Discover Point Church at 1605 Ga. Highway 138 in Conyers, across from LA Fitness and Chick-fil-A.
