One person was killed Thursday evening in an accident involving a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle near the intersection of Ga. Highway 81 and Brown Road, according to Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright.

Wright said the tractor trailer hit a utility pole, but he had no further details as of 9:23 p.m. as officers were still working the scene. Newton County Sherrif's Office Lt. Tyrone Oliver said the call for the accident went out at 7: 51 p.m.

Brown Road is south of Oak Hill Road on Ga. 81, near Livingston Elementary School.
