Oldest county employee honored
Flo-Henderson
The Rockdale County Board of Commissioner declared April 27 Floy Henderson Day in honor of the county's oldest employee. Henderson, who is lovingly called the "hug lady," turned 90 years old on April 27.

"I would like to say ‘thank you' to all of you. This job means a lot to me. I hope to stay till God gets ready for me," Henderson said.

Henderson has been a Rockdale County employee for 12 years, working in the Department of Senior Services. She volunteered her time in the community for more than 30 years, working with homebound seniors. In 2007, she earned the ARC outstanding employee award.

"What a fine example you are in our community and the work you do in the center," said Jackie Lunsford, director of Senior Services. "We thank you for all the work you do for us."

In addition to being the oldest Rockdale Employee, Henderson also is a the oldest member by birth at Antioch AME church, which has two locations in Stone Mountain and one location in Conyers. Henderson's pastor, The Rev. Stafford Wicker, attended the ceremony.
