Oh, when the saints

When tomorrow morning comes, the candy feast will be all over (well, most of it). The costumes will be put away and our clocks will be reset. As I flipped my calendar page to November, I saw that tomorrow is All Saints' Day.

I was racking my brain trying to remember all of the lyrics to that old song, "When the Saints Come Marching In." I only remember the refrain: "Oh, how I want to be in that number, when the saints come marching in."

I really do.

I can't wait.

I can't even begin to imagine.

It's reassuring to know that God's desire is for me to be with him. Sometimes, I forget that God doesn't expect me to be perfect. The saints who will march through the pearly gates are just like you and I. They tried to do their best to serve God and follow His will. Their stories are not written to intimidate, but to inspire.

As the morning begins, I will feel grateful that other people have been able to overcome challenges as they find their way to God.

Oh, how I want to be in that number.

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven." (Matt 7:21 NIV)
