Local law enforcement and residents got into the spirit of Officer Morgan Steward Day, which took place today, at the Covington Square.

Morgan Steward is the 5-year-old local boy with a spinal condition whose dream came true when he was recently sworn in as a Covington Police Officer.

The event today is being sponsored by 11 Alive, and Morgan will get to do all the things real police officers do. Spectators were encouraged to cheer Morgan on from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Shaquille O'Neal, the former basketball player and police officer himself, was also at the Covington Square. He's there as part of the Officer Morgan Steward Day.

The square will still be open to all vehicle traffic, Police Capt. Ken Malcom said
