Ninja robs Conyers diner

A man dressed as a ninja wielding a plastic sword played the role of the Grinch when he burst into a Conyers diner Monday morning, making off with Christmas fundraiser stockings.

Around 6:30 a.m., a black male about 5-feet, 9-inches tall dressed head to toe in black, including a black ninja mask, burst into the Oakes Family Diner on Flat Shoals Road near Ga. Highway 138.

According to Conyers police, witnesses described the man’s clothing as looking like a Halloween costume, complete with plastic sword.

The man reportedly screamed at the employees and patrons, “Give me the money!”

He then ran behind the counter and knocked down the cook, who was not injured from the incident.

The robber then grabbed stockings the restaurant had hanging up to raise funds at the family-owned business and fled on foot.

The stockings only had a few dollars in them but did have fake $100 bills stapled to the outside, according to police.

Employees at the diner declined to talk about the incident.

Conyers police investigators are asking that anyone who might have spotted a man dressed as a ninja in that area on Monday call the TIP line at 770-483-TIPS (8477).
