Mercy Heart Health Clinic, a charity organization that provides medical care to the uninsured and low-income residents of Rockdale County, will celebrate its one-year anniversary on Feb. 16.

Over the course of their first year, the clinic has handled more than 670 patient visits, handing diabetes, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and basic dental care.

This year, Mercy Heart is creating a fundraiser called Mercy Heart Angels, who aim to find donors to offer donations of $1,000 to allow the clinic to operate full-time and serve more than 600 visits per month.

"We want to make a significant impact on our community, both economically and morally," Executive Director Ed Conway said. "It is our intention to partner with all of Rockdale County’s nonprofit organizations to provide them with a medical and dental resource for their clients. Rockdale enjoys a reputation of pulling together for the common good, and Mercy Heart is confident that we will reach our goal."

The Mercy Heart medical clinic is currently open from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The dental clinic is open from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays.
