A Monroe, Ga. resident violating his parole led the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office on a short-lived pursuit Tuesday afternoon.

Christopher Michael Chalmus, 34, ran out of a probation office located on Iris Drive, near Parker Road, when he found out he was going to be arrested for having an active warrant for violating his DUI probation requirements, a misdemeanor, says RCSO Cpl. Michael Camp.

A deputy was already walking to the building when Chalmus ran out the front door shortly after 4 p.m. The deputy called in the description of Chalmus, and another deputy, who was driving his patrol car, spotted Chalmus running into the nearby woods.
A search perimeter was setup and K-9s were brought in to find Chalmus. He was found after a 30-minute escape in the woods near a fence.

Chalmus was then taken into custody.
