Jevantae Toreandus Jester was arrested in connection with a shooting at a Newton County gas station Tuesday.

Jester was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony by the U.S. Marshals.

Newton County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Valero gas station on 11260 Brown Bridge Road in reference to a person shot.

According to NCSO Public Information Officer Cortney Morrison, a male entered the store on Nov. 2 and shot the clerk. The male then left the store.

“The clerk sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by EMS,” Morrison said.

Newton County criminal investigation division collected evidence and developed probably cause for the warrant of Jester.
No motive has been identified for the shooting at this time, according to Morrison.
