Mahaffey Memorial Ride slated for Saturday
Brian-and-Diana-Mahaffey-1-001

The community is invited to participate in the Brian Mahaffey Memorial Ride this Saturday to honor the local deputy who was killed in the line of duty in May 2010.

The line-up begins at the Rockdale County's Sheriff's Office, 911 Chambers Drive, Conyers, at 6 p.m. with the ride starting at 6:30 p.m. and ending at Los Charros on Hwy 20 at Honey Creek Road.  Motorcycles, cars and trucks are invited to participate in the event, which is also a celebration of the Mahaffey's birthday. The father of two was killed while attempting to serve a warrant on May 8, 2010, one day after he turned 28.

"My brother gave his life  doing what he loved: protecting this community," Chris Mahaffey, Brian's brother, said this week. "Please come out and join us in remembering and honoring his name. The comfort that only Christ can bring, has been what has gotten us through these past 3 years, but the outpouring of love and support from this community has been such an encouragement."

While participation is free, donations will be taken and given to Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S). For more information about C.O.P.S, visit www.NationalCOPS.org.
