Librarys Summer Reading kicks off

Summer reading festivities have begun with a splash this summer at Nancy Guinn Library. This year features two themes being incorporated into summer reading activities. "Dream Big - Read!" is aimed towards children Pre-K through fifth grade. The older kids can also get in on the fun with "Own the Night," which is geared towards those who are in middle or high school.

To get started, the kids will keep a reading log and record time spent reading over the summer. In late July, they will turn them in for prizes donated by local businesses.

Special shows and activities continue the program's themes throughout the summer. "Dream Big - Read!" participants will enjoy performances by Keith Karnok, Magician and Ventriloquist, Lee Bryan who is referred to as "That Puppet Guy," along with many other special guests. For older kids, Graphic Novel Night celebrates the art of anime and comic books with discussions/debates of their favorites and an anime movie.

An end-of-the-program party with games and prizes will be held July 19. For more information, call (770) 388-5040 or www.conyersrockdalelibrary.org or stop by 864 Green Street.
