The Salem girls’ varsity basketball team dropped its first game of the 2013-2014 basketball season on the road Tuesday night, succumbing 49-47 to Fayette County in their first game of the Lady Blue Tip-Off Classic hosted by Norcross High School.
Leading 47-46, the Lady Seminoles were defeated by a late 3-pointer, dropping Salem to 1-1 on the season.
Ayanna Mitchell led the Lady Seminoles with 18 points and 14 rebounds while dishing out five assists in the loss. Mitchell also recorded three steals against the Lady Tigers.
Senior Jennifer Tindi also added 10 points for the Lady Seminoles, shooting 4-of-12 from the floor. Tindi also finished with a double-double, grabbing 10 total rebounds.
Salem returns to action Friday on the road at Newton before facing Columbia in their second game at the Tip-Off Classic.
