Kendra Lackey helped the Rockdale volleyball team earn its second straight Region 8-AAAA title with 21 kills in the championship match against Apalachee on Saturday, and she earned more than a trophy for her achievements.

After the region tournament, held at Habersham Central, the senior right side hitter was named as the 8-AAAA Player of the Year.

Lackey was joined on the All-region first team by Rockdale teammate Libby Bradford. The Bulldogs were well represented on the second team, with outside hitter Brittany Frost, middle hitter Abby Bradford and libero Alex Adams receiving recognition.

Heritage and Salem were also represented on the All-region list with Kourtney Kelley of the Patriots making it as a first-team outside hitter.

Salem's Stevee Cotton was named to the second team as setter.

Flowery Branch's Rick Godfrey was named Coach of the Year.
