Man arrested for cold case murder (May 30, 2013)
A juvenile male is facing a charge of involuntary manslaughter following an altercation Friday night that led to a man's death.
Just after 9 p.m. on July 18, deputies with the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance call on Alexandria Lane off McDaniel Mill Road.
Upon arrival, deputies found a 53-year-old male lying in the driveway, unresponsive.
The victim, now identified as Michael Henderson, was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
Responding deputies and investigators determined that Henderson got into an argument with a 16-year-old juvenile male that was over at his residence playing basketball with Henderson's son and other friends.
Following a brief physical altercation that was reportedly initiated by the juvenile male, Henderson collapsed from what is believed to have been a medical emergency such as a heart attack. His wife called 911.
The 16-year-old male was located a short time later at his nearby residence and taken into custody. He was transported to the Rockdale Regional Youth Detention Center and is facing a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
The investigation into this incident continues. An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death.
Henderson was arrested in 2013 for a 1987 murder in the second degree charge for stabbing his then-wife in Washington D.C.. He was indicted in Washington and was in Conyers awaiting trial.
Henderson and his family had reportedly moved to Rockdale in 2010.
