In the wake of her losing her election race, Rockdale County Post 2 Commissioner JaNice Van Ness will hold a community meeting to discuss the state of Rockdale County.
In an e-mail sent out Sunday, Van Ness welcomes her supporters to attend the meeting because, as the e-mail states, there are significant opportunities to make a difference in 2015.
“I want to continue to be a positive influence in our community and we must work collectively toward the common good for all residents,” Van Ness writes in the e-mail. “I will also be available to discuss my plans for the next two months in office and how you can be an important part of our efforts to Keep Rockdale Moving Forward.”
The meeting will be held today at 6:30 p.m. in the Board of Commissioners office, 962 Milstead Avenue, Conyers.
The Republican incumbent Van Ness lost the election race for the Post 2 county seat to Democratic candidate Doreen Williams Tuesday. Even in defeat, Van Ness has vowed to work to get her platform ideas approved before her two months in office are over.
One issue at the top of Van Ness’ list during her campaign has been to enact an ethics board in Rockdale. The ethics board was approved into law in 2008 but never initiated by the county board.
Van Ness will have a discussion about the ethics board at the board of commissioners voting session at 10 a.m. on Nov. 11, at the Assembly Hall, 901 Main Street, Conyers at .
