Heritages Suddeth named Region Coach of the Year

Chad Suddeth was rewarded for leading the Heritage girls’ soccer team within one game of the Region 8-AAAAA title and a state ranking throughout the 2013 season.

The Lady Patriots head man was voted Region Coach of the Year by his peers, leading nine Heritage selections in the All-Region voting. The Lady Patriots, who finished 14-4-2 on the season, three players on the first team, two on the second and three on the honorable-mention team. 

Midfielder Ally Silvey, defender Abbey Dunlop and goalkeeper Mady Carter, all juniors were named to the first team from Heritage. Fellow junior Ray Brown, a defender, and sophomore midfielder Kaley Wells were selected as Heritage’s second-team representatives and sophomore midfielder Haley Elliot was named honorable mention. Lady Patriots’ freshmen forwards Sara Boggus and Faith Shelton were also named All-Region honorable mention honorees.

Heritage’s boys’ side also led the All-Region 8-AAAAA team in representatives, placing 10 on the team.

Three Patriots, all seniors, were first-team selections, including defenders Delvin Bickham and Tyler Weaver. Midfielder Harrison Kulp was the other first-team pick for the 14-4-2 Patriots, who reached the state playoffs’ second round.

Heritage had four second-team selections, in sophomore forward Austin Kulp, sophomore midfielder Andre Deas and senior defenders Will Boggus and Grant Crain. The Patriots honorable-mention nominees are senior midfielders Juan Villanueva and Jeffrey Lawson and freshman goalkeeper Connor Domaleski.

Salem also had its share of All-Region selections, including second-team members Rico Pope, a junior forward and sophomore midfielder Daniel Rodriguez. 

Three more Salem players were All-Region members, on the honorable-mention team, including senior midfielder Christian Colin, senior goalkeeper Kai Uchimura and junior defender Tyler McEwan.

Rockdale’s boys’ soccer team, which finished 5-12-2 in 2013, had three All-Region 2-AAAAAA selections including first-team defender Devon Dawkins. Rockdale’s second-team members are forward Dominic Dixon and midfielder Shad Dawking.
