IN BRIEF: Heritage High School was named among the best high schools in the nation in the US News and World Report's annual listing and ranked No. 35 in the state of Georgia.

The Patriots are among 1,790 silver medal designated schools across the country.

Heritage principal Greg Fowler said, "I am very proud of our staff and students for always striving to be the best they can be and to represent our school and county in the best light possible."

The evaluations were based on results of state-mandated assessments, performance on AP and IB tests, and how effectively socio-economically disadvantaged and black and Hispanic students were educated.
