The Salem Seminoles traveled to Athens Friday night to take on the Clarke Central Gladiators who defeated the visiting Seminoles 37-0.

The Seminoles, which went into Friday’s game with a 2-3 record, are now 2-4 this season after suffering their second straight loss.

“We just couldn’t get anything going offensively,” said Salem head coach John Starr. “We had our defense out there on the field way too long. We just couldn’t get it going offensively. We didn’t have a lot of continuity on offense.”

On the other side, Friday’s win not only put the Clarke Central Gladiators over .500 but also gave them their third win in a row as they are now 2-4 on the season. They will look to keep their winning streak alive next week as they travel to Heritage High to take on the Patriots.

With the Seminoles still licking their wounds from the loss, they have just a week to refocus their mental game and ready themselves to hit the gridiron again as they will be hosting the Red Elephants of Gainesville High.

“We really just have to get better simple as that,” said Starr. “We just have to get better and keep working hard. They have a real strong program and we have to be able to just play football and do the best we can.”
