Four arrested in Conyers home invasion
CPD-patch-2015

CONYERS - Three males and one female, who all reside in Lithonia, Georgia, were arrested for their involvement with a home invasion that occurred a week ago in Conyers.

DeAngelo Banks, 22, Isiah Dickerson, 19, Rontavious Cole, 18, and Laurel Carithers, 18, were all found at Dickerson's residence at 32 Treeview Court in Lithonia last week, shortly after the crime.

Around 3 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, a 27-year-old male victim told police he awoke to a "loud bang" after one of the unknown suspects kicked opened the door to his bedroom. His 24-year-old girlfriend and their 4-year-old daughter were asleep in the same bedroom.

"He advised he immediately shut the door and went to look for his gun thinking someone was in the house," CPD Officer Stephen Blanchette wrote in his report. "He stated it took approximately 45 seconds for him to locate his Taurus TCP .380 handgun and then look out his bedroom window."

The male victim told police he saw about five individuals get out of a silver passenger car and a white or silver pick-up truck when he looked out the window. The vehicles were parked in his driveway.

One suspect fired off a single shot at the house as he walked around the truck, the male victim told police. The victim returned a single shot at the suspects with his weapon. Once he did, all the suspects got back into their vehicles and left the scene, according to the report.

Only one room, which belonged to the male victim's 24-year-old brother who was working out town at the time of the crime, had been rummaged through, according to the report.

"When I looked through (the 24-year-old's) bedroom it appeared several pairs of shoes and multiple items of clothing had been taken. Jewelry was also missing," according to the report.

According to Conyers Police (CPD) spokesperson Kim Lucas, several of the 24-year-old male victim's items, including electronics, jewelry and clothing were found at the Dickerson residence.

Carithers knew the 24-year-old property victim in the case and orchestrated the crime, according to Lucas. The 24-year-old male victim and Carithers were "talking," which is similar to dating, for some time, says Lucas.

Cole and Carithers are currently in Rockdale County Jail. Cole is being charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and invading a home. Carithers, who's dating and lives with Dickerson, is being charged with conspiracy to commit a crime.

Banks and Dickerson are still being held in DeKalb County Jail because of prior arrest warrants in that jurisdiction. Banks had an arrest for violating his probation and Dickerson for failing to appear in court to face a statutory rape charge.

After handling crimes committed in DeKalb, the two will be transferred to Rockdale County Jail to face the same charges as Cole.

Lucas says the CPD aren't looking for anymore suspects related to this case.
