UPDATE (Dec. 12, 7:30 p.m.): The kitchen fire at the Long John Silver's started in a fryer shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to Rockdale County Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Dan Morgan.
Firefighters arrived to find the fryer burning and the fire going up the vent hood. The fryer fire was put out with extinguishers. The ventilation area and roof were checked, but no damage was found and there was no major damage to the building, according to Morgan. The utilities were shut down and the restaurant evacuated and closed for the evening. There was reportedly no damage to the building.
