CONYERS - A man was fatally injured after being involved in a car collision Monday night, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office (RCSO).

The RCSO says the collision on Union Church Road near Harper Road occurred after the driver of a GMC pickup truck swerved around an animal in the street and struck a Chevrolet pick truck head on.

The GMC truck was traveling south when it struck the Chevy truck, which was traveling north. Ralph Parris, 78, was the driver of the Chevy pickup and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger in the GMC truck were taken to two Atlanta area hospitals. Their condition is not known at this point.

The accident occurred around 7:40 p.m.
