Family campfire night Sept. 20 at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center

Make plans to attend an upcoming night of fun at the ‘Family Campfire' event scheduled for Friday, Sept. 20 at the Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center. The evening, scheduled from 7-9 p.m., will offer music, a live animal presentation, skits and of course, s'mores.

A special addition to the evening is master storycrafter Anthony Vinson, president of the Southern Order of Storytellers. Vinson is a comedic storyteller and humorist who combines open, interactive performing styles with wordplay and a sharply-honed wit. He crafts stories, including variations of traditional folk tales, animal trickster stories, original tall tales and whimsical anecdotes.

The event is free but registration is required; call 770-784-3059 to register. Bring a flashlight and be sure to dress appropriately for the outdoors and bring something to sit on (camp chairs, blanket). Event will be held rain or shine.

Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center is located near Mansfield, less than an hour southeast of Atlanta off Interstate 20. The address is 543 Elliott Trail, Mansfield 30055. The ‘Family Campfire' event will take place at the Brooke Ager Discovery Center on the property.
