Rockdale County State Court was recently awarded a $29,000 grant to continue the DUI Court Supervised Treatment Program, which the County's State Court Judge Nancy N. Bills oversees.

The Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety grant will be used for program operations, including contractual services, from October 2013 through September 2014.

The program targets offenders with multiple convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol and serves to reduce DUI recidivism by addressing the root cause of this particular crime in the repeat offender - a substance use disorder.

The program uses a multi-agency, collaborative approach to comprehensively treat, motivate and rehabilitate the participant.

Judge Bills created the court in 2007.
