As Veteran’s Day approaches this weekend, several local restaurants are honoring veterans with a free meal on either Sunday, Nov. 11 or Monday, Nov. 12.

Veterans eat free as a special thank you tribute. Proof of service such as a U.S. uniform services identification card, a veterans organization card, etc. or even wearing a uniform in person are accepted.

Many restaurants are participating in the Veteran’s Day free meal nationwide, but locally in the Covington, Conyers and Stonecrest Mall areas, are the following restaurants offering the discounts:

Sunday, Nov. 11
*Applebee’s
*Chili’s
*Hooters
*Subway

Monday, Nov. 12
*Olive Garden
*Golden Corral

Some Veteran’s Day discounts have certain specifications such as the free meals offered at Olive Garden are from a list of several different entrees on a special menu or Golden Corral’s offer is applicable between the hours of 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday.

Other businesses are also offering Veteran’s Day discount. Home Depot and Lowes are offering a 10 percent military discount with proof of service.
