The Rockdale Rockets track team with the Parks and Recreation Department were commended at a recent Rockdale County Board of Commissioners meeting.

The Rockets recently won eight gold medals and a total of 35 medals at the state meet and had 41 members of the track team qualify for the district meet held in Macon. Twenty-one members qualify for the state meet in Augusta.
One member, Jallah Galimah, set a state record in the 400 meter race, and Galimah and Josiah Jenkins have been nominated to represent the Southern Region at national meet in Hershey, Pa.
